Head of a young woman, Mutnefret — Unknown

With her piquant features, this head is one of a few fine hardstone female images from this period. Her large rimmed eyes suggest a date in the first half of the third century. On the back pillar appears Khuit, the goddess associated with Athribis, a thriving city in the southern Delta with a population drawn from Egyptian, Greek, and Near Eastern peoples.
