Untitled — Unknown

Revered in Chan (Zen) Buddhism, the monk-poet Hanshan (Kanzan) stands in a windswept landscape and holds a brush in his upraised right hand. The moralizing poem at the upper left, which stresses proper behavior, is found in ceramics but does not appear to have been preserved elsewhere.
