Wooden window screens, mashrabiyyas, usually have small windows from which the observer can see the outside world without being seen. Yet mashrabiyyas were also installed inside the house for the onlooker to be able to observe the courtyard of the house with privacy. This mashrabiyya screen contains the same type of windows that appear on 11.86.2a, b.
