This evening coat, with its sweeping proportions and generous use of white fox fur, harks back to 1930s glamour. It was created by respected American designer Shannon Rodgers. Shannon Rodgers early work was as a designer on Broadway. In the 1930s he was hired by film director Cecil B. DeMille as a studio artist. DeMille's "Cleopatra" is among the films Rodgers worked on. In 1946, he was hired by Jerry Silverman (1910-1984) as a designer for Martini Designed and 13 years later they formed their own company, Jerry Silverman, Inc. where Rodgers was the principal designer. The company produced women's ready-to-wear clothing. It was acquired by Warnaco Inc. in 1972.
