Toreador cape — Unknown

Matador Juan Belmonte (1893-1962) was eulogized by the New York Herald Tribune: "In his day, he was the greatest of them all, the idol of a generation, the dark genius of the bull-fighting mystique who became one of the central characters in Ernest Hemingway's Death in the Afternoon." Mrs. Vreeland prized the bullfight's excitement and exaggeration governed by formalities.
