High chest of drawers
Unknown
1695–1720 · Sweet gum, yellow poplar, yellow pine, white oak · The American Wing

The type of leg seen on this high chest was likely derived from the spiral columns of European Baroque architecture. Spiral twisted legs, a rarity in American furniture, can sometimes be found on high chests and tables made in New York.
