Alfred Renoleau|Renoleau Manufactory
1887–88 · Glazed earthenware with applied decoration · European Sculpture and Decorative Arts

More than just a useful piece of tableware, this large plate shows the compositional skills of Alfred Renoleau. The lobsters’ naturalistic colors contrast with the striking green tone of the background glaze. Renoleau proudly signed his name on the reverse.
