Glass mosaic ribbed bowl rim fragment
Unknown
late 1st century BCE–early 1st century CE · Glass · Greek and Roman Art

Rim and upper body fragment of a deep ribbed bowl with base ring. Translucent honey brown and opaque white. Outsplayed rim with rounded edge, partially ground down; straight side, tapering obliquely toward bottom. Composite mosaic pattern formed from large sections of two canes, both in a brown ground: one with a large white circle and central white rod, and the other with a smaller circle and central rod surrounded by a ring of white rods. Polished on all surfaces, with some pitting of surface bubbles. Some irregular tooling marks on exterior below rim; no trace of any ribbing survives.
