This triangular vase is composed of three slabs of clay joined at the seams and has smaller rectangular additions attached to the top half of two seams, creating the impression of extended arms from the “frontal” view. White slip is brushed onto the entire exterior surface, onto which are incised a series of mostly curving lines. The design is abstract—and distinct on each of the vessel’s three sides—yet might possibly be read as birds in flight.
