Suzuki draws inspiration from the traditions of the Mino kilns, which also produced Oribe-ware tea ceramics in the Momoyama period (1573–1615). This high-fired, slightly asymmetrical stoneware piece has freely applied rich glazes—copper-green for the Green Oribe style and underglaze iron-brown motifs for the Shino-Oribe—as well as geometric and abstract patterns, motifs inspired by nature, and contemporary elements of playfulness.
