This seated bodhisattva survives from a set of five sculptures. Esoteric practitioners of the Tendai sect commonly depicted the buddha Amida surrounded by four attendant bodhisattvas: Kongōhō, shown here, along with Kongōri (Vajratiksna), Kongōin (Vajrahetu), and Kongōgo (Vajrabhasha).
