Wagner’s lamp eschews a conventional shade and employs the new technology of electricity to dramatic effect. Rather than using reflective surfaces to echo the electric light, Wagner leaves the bulb exposed to heighten the stark, tough, and somewhat menacing quality of this bomblike design.
