Paul Manship

After winning the prestigious Prix de Rome in 1909, Manship spent several years studying at the American Academy in Rome. This candelabrum, made shortly after he returned to the States, show his awareness of art history and his interest in archaic art. It shows Vulcan (with torch) and Venus (with rose).
