Rather more conservative than many of his contemporaries, Leleu was nonetheless a prolific ensemblier with a large number of private and public clients, including the French ocean liners Île-de-France, Atlantique, Normandie, and France. He was also an active participant in the annual Salon d’Automne and Salon des Artistes Décorateurs as well as an exhibitor at the Paris international expositions of 1925 and 1937. This commode was part of his display at the 1925 fair.
