Süe et Mare’s pavilion, Musée d’Art Contemporain (Museum of Contemporary Art), at the 1925 exposition was remarkable for its lavish interior—extravagant patterning, abundance of color, and bold designs that looked back to the Louis XV style for inspiration. The centerpiece of its main salon was this ebony and gilt-bronze desk suite, which was among the most important works that curator Joseph Breck purchased for The Met at the fair.
