Band Fragment — Unknown

This wool fabric is highly colourful, with bands in cobalt, brown, dark blue, tan and red. The right edge has the original fringe and a checkerboard pattern. The inscription on the textile, executed in beige colour, is repeated in five horizontal bands and is a prayer to God (‘O who you are, I call him’). The heavy double weave of the fabric implies that it was most likely used as soft furnishings and not as a garment.
