Preparatory drawing for Thomas Chippendale's 'Gentleman and Cabinet Maker's Director'. Published in reverse as plate XVI in the 1754 and 1755 editions, and renumbered as plate XV in the 1762 edition. Designs for three chairs, whose backs are constructed from interwoven ribbon motifs and moldings.
