Backplate from a Brigandine
Unknown
ca. 1400–1425 · Steel, brass, leather, textile (linen, wool) · Arms and Armor

This plate is extremely rare for retaining much of its original fabric covering, a red wool velvet. As part of a complete brigandine, it would have protected the area at the base of the neck and between the shoulderblades.
