This black and purple quilt has a pieced-block design. The Basket blocks are set on point, four across and five down, and alternate with plain black diamond-shaped blocks. A narrow purple inner border is surrounded by a wide black outer border. The edge binding is a purple cotton and the backing is gray cotton. There is a layer of cotton batting. The black blocks are quilted with sunflowers, and the pieced blocks are quilted with parallel straight lines. The purple inner border features pairs of petals or seeds, and the outer border is quilted with a rope pattern. The quilt is stitched together by machine but is hand quilted with black cotton thread.
