Few ecclesiastical textiles documented to Tiffany have survived. The highly detailed presentation drawing depicts a cope intended for the Reverend Edward McCarty (probably the Reverend McCurdy), a priest at Saint Augustine's Church, Brooklyn, from 1876 to 1925. The embroidery, a complex pattern of interlocking gold strapwork and stylized ivy vines, is reminiscent of thirteenth-century ornament. The sumptuosly ornamented cope would have been worn for processions and holy days.
