Terracotta hydria: kalpis (water jar) — Unknown

Woman seated by an altar and thymiaterion (incense burner) being crowned by Eros, satyr and woman with tympanon (tambourine), and woman Set outdoors, this scene shows a woman burning incense and a satyr with a woman, who may be a maenad. The woman at the right runs away in fright. The powers of Dionysos and Eros are evidently at work.
