Rim fragment with lion hunt; red-gloss sigillata. This type of mold-made fineware pottery, known as terra sigillata, derives from Arretine and related wares made in Italy in the early first century A.D. By the second century, most terra sigillata was made at sites in central and eastern Gaul (modern France and Germany).
