Terracotta modiolus (drinking cup)

Both cups were made at Arretium (modern Arezzo) in Northern Italy. One (17.194.896) bears stamps giving the name not only of the owner of the workshop, P. Cornelius, but also of the slave, called Rodo, who made the vessel. The shape can be compared with that of some glass vessels also displayed here. Rogers Fund, 1919 (19.192.42)
