Woman seated with lyre The presence of a bird, evidently listening raptly, and the emphatically large chair as well as the frontal face suggest that the subject here is more than an Athenian lady making music. It is difficult to tell whether she should be thought of as an inspired mortal, a poetess, or a muse.
