Covered vase — Worcester factory|Jeffreyes Hammet O'Neale

These two vases (see also 64.101.788a, b) are decorated with scenes of figures set in landscapes, and the detail with which they are depicted marks these vases as particularly fine examples of Worcester porcelain of this period. The deep blue ground color and the elaborate gilt decoration reflect the strong influence of the Sèvres porcelain manufactory in France on Worcester’s production during the 1770s.
