Christ Falling Under the Cross — Franz Fallenter

This window shows Christ falling under the weight of the cross as he is forced to carry it to the site of his crucifixion. It is part of a set depicting the life of Christ that was originally installed in the cloister of the Cistercian convent Rathausen, near Lucerne, in central Switzerland. Cloisters, the arcaded passages connecting one part of a convent or monastery to another, were the first places in Cistercian religious houses to be glazed with colored figural windows.
