This plaster model, exhibited at Salon of 1904 as "Petite Fille des Landes," was Despiau's first success. The marble version was shown in 1907 at the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux Arts. Other versions exist in bronze and plaster; the French government owned 55.21.7 as well as a bronze cast. The base, now joined to the head, is probably not original to the figure.
