The set is for Muslim players. As will be seen by comparison with other Indian Muslim sets, there are considerable variations in the shapes of these nonfigural pieces. None gives any indication of what it originally represented. By their size the king and queen gain a more important appearance; the rook is a diminuitive edition of the same form.
