There are twenty pieces on each side, arranged in three rows, as follows: back: fragrant wagon, honorable horse, silver, gold, king, gold, silver, honorable horse, fragrant wagon; middle: flying wagon, flying horse; front: foot soldiers. The pieces called "silver" and "gold" are generals. There is no difference in color between the sides; the direction in which the pieces are pointed-toward the opposing side-identifies the side to which they belong.
