Snuffbox with cipher of William IV of the United Kingdom of Great Britian and Ireland — John Northam

WR IV crowned is the monogram of King William IV (born 1765, reigned 1830-37). This otherwise plain box was embellished with an encrusted plaque bearing his monogram; the border combines roses, thistles, and shamrocks. The box was presented to Henry George Scholtz, British consul at Lisbon (1828–34) and the grandfather of the donor's husband.
