Buckaroo
Alexander Phimister Proctor
1914, cast 1915 · Bronze · The American Wing

In autumn 1914 Proctor attended the Pendleton Round-Up in Oregon, an annual rodeo attended by thousands. Thrilled by the experience, he returned to the cowboy theme for the first time in more than twenty years. Proctor’s cowboy sits tall in his saddle, firmly in control. The title, "Buckaroo," is a term used in the Northwest to refer to cowboys.
