Saint Catherine of Siena
Fulvio Signorini
ca. 1600 · Bronze, partially oil-gilt · European Sculpture and Decorative Arts

During her lifetime, Saint Catherine achieved enormous fame as a Dominican visionary all over Italy, but particularly in her native Siena. Though she belonged to a rival religious order, this bronze was formerly in the Church of San Francesco in Siena, where she was adopted as a protector of the city.
