Arms of Gianfigliazzi Impaling Adimari — della Robbia

The arms are those of Gianfigliazzi (a blue lion on a gold ground) impaling Adimari (gold over blue in equal parts), for Borgianni di Gherardo Gianfigliazzi and Caterina di Piero Adimari, who were married in Florence in 1509. Large, colored, weather-proof sculptural armorial compositions such as this were fixed onto the exterior or courtyard wall of the owner's house.
