Ewer
Unknown
ca. 1710–20 · Faience (tin-glazed earthenware) · European Sculpture and Decorative Arts

The form of this ewer is based on a French silver example, and it is likely that it was originally accompanied by a basin. The painted designs of arabesques and fanciful figures reflect the influence of the French court designer, Jean Bérain (1640-1711), whose work had enormous influence on the decorative arts in the decades around 1700.
