Levi was an architect and a painter who worked primarily in watercolor. After attending the School of Architecture at Columbia University, he studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he was immersed in the classical tradition. This meticulously rendered drawing of the interior of the thirteenth-century cathedral in Siena captures its distinctive striped columns and walls and reflects Levi’s architectural training.
