Roland was in charge of the decoration of the Château de Bagatelle, built for the comte d'Artois (the future king Charles X) in 1777 (see 07.225.17a, b for overdoors from the billiards room of Bagatelle). Roland provided Lhuillier with a terracotta model for 07.225.18, which Lhuillier completed in wood. The eagles may refer to Artois's military honors: he was Colonel General of the Swiss Guards and Grand Master of the Artillery.
