Vase with cover (vase des âges) (one of a pair)
Sèvres Manufactory|Charles Nicolas Dodin|Henry-Martin Prévost|Jean Michel Moreau the Younger
1782 · Soft-paste porcelain decorated in polychrome enamels, gold · European Sculpture and Decorative Arts

The scene depicting a young family in a richly detailed garden setting is the work of Charles-Nicolas Dodin, regarded during his lifetime as the most skilled of all the painters at Sèvres. The lavish gilding on the vase includes the decorative handles in the form of male busts, which evoke the gilt-bronze mounts employed on French furniture of the period.
