John Stephen

Scottish-born John Stephen, who was known as "The King of Carnaby Street,” was designing low-slung pants for men as early as 1956. Here a traditional menswear textile, herringbone tweed, is used to create a pair of 1965 hip huggers. The body-conscious cut emphasizes the lower torso and the concealed slash pockets help maintain the slim line.
