Table — Frank Lloyd Wright

The Littles brought this table from their home in Peoria. It appears similar in some respects to the light oak table (1972.60.3) that Wright later designed for Wayzata, specifically in the way the central cabinet block is a separate unit, not directly attached to the table’s legs. However, this earlier design in dark stained oak is much more heavily massed and features banding and angled block feet, decorative details that Wright abandoned in his more austere, later version. Wright reused this design when he created a table like this one for the 1904 Darwin Martin House in Buffalo, New York.
