There is a sense of grandeur about this piece due to its full shape and beautiful patterning. The fabric has been skillfully used in the construction of the robe, for it highlights the pattern and creates visual interest because of the mitering of the stripes at back, forming a chevron. This robe is of even greater interest in the realm of the Brooklyn Museum Collection for it is not unlike the wrappers created by Charles James for his client Millicent Rogers, as he also used an interesting striping pattern.
