Bernard Figueroa, who designed his own line of shoes from 1993 to 2003, is noted for his sophisticated designs employing modern, inventive cuts paired with quirky surrealist sculptured heels. Figueroa was an important figure in the renaissance of the creative interpretation of form which has enlivened shoe design since the early 1990s. The deconstructivist quality of the distorted heel of this shoe can be seen as a manifestation of that trend.
