Throughout the 19th century and the first quarter of the 20th century, the boot was the dominant form of men’s footwear. These classic Balmoral boots were a common style and feature a very asymmetric, curved sole which is typical of the 1910s. The name derives from the Balmoral estate in Scotland, which was purchased by Queen Victoria in the 1850s, when this cut of boot was coming into fashion.
