The design for this scarf was taken from a group of Brussels lace doilies in the Brooklyn Museum collection. It is an excellent example of the interest in using museum objects for creative design endeavors, promoted by Stewart Culin and M.D.C. Crawford at the Brooklyn Museum in their development of the Design Lab.
