Evening pumps
Samo
ca. 1968 · silk, metal, glass · Costume Institute

Jeweled heels were an important fashion trend in the later 1920s, and reappeared occasionally thereafter. The Italian shoemaker Samo seems to have made rather a specialty of the style when it returned to fashion in the later 1960s. Much like the high-fashion evening dresses of the period, the tendency was to use a contrast of plain fabrics and bursts of robust trim or pattern.
