Featured here is an extraordinary example of an infant's gown that was certainly for a baby of the highest social order. The accession records suggest that this may have been worn by a baby of a Russian Czar, which would be appropriate as the dress is quite grandiose. The high social standing of the individual is indicated by the extraordinary length of the skirt (33 3/4 inches), with the typical longest length of infant's dresses being 28 - 30 inches. This piece is more refined than other examples due to the complex and exquisite needlework throughout.
