An attractive and unusual design specific to its period distinguishes this pair of shoes worn by an infant girl between 1871 and 1874. The high peak at the back is a feature of fashionable contemporary women's shoes. Numerous attractive details - scalloped quarters, wave design of tab, embossed rosette trimmed with tiny buckle, double row of contrasting top stitching, and cheerful printed lining - create appeal in these inexpensive manufactured shoes.
