As the twenties came to an end, fashion reflected the changes taking place in society. The tubular silhouette was still in vogue, but the hemline was slowly transitioning, lowering to the floor. This dress is an excellent example of French couture and is unique because of its dynamic Art Deco configuration, achieved by piecing and draping. Additionally, the asymmetrical hemline is a precursor to the new silhouette that was to follow. The long sleeves and high neck are very modest, for the majority of evening dresses were sleeveless with V-necks and made of sheer, lightweight fabrics, decorated with rhinestones and beads.
