As the roaring twenties dwindled, women's fashion transitioned according to the times. The hemline, which had risen to above the knee, began to lower. Often, this was seen with the hem slightly higher in front and lower in back. Additionally, the waistline began to rise, returning to its proper place. This refined French dress is an example of this change. Its construction is quite complex, with the slip, dress and overdress, delicate materials and detailed embroidery. This piece is a wonderful expression of the return to femininity.
