The carriage blanket featured here is a beautifully presented baby accessory. The lace is handmade needle lace known as youghal, which was made by nuns in the Presentation Convent in County Cork, Ireland. An imitation of the gros point de Venise Italian lace, its patterning and three-dimensional elements are more akin to fine Irish crochet. The provenance adds extra interest as it was donated by the Mary Flagler Cary Charitable Trust established in 1938.
