Located at East 46th Street, Mrs. Osborn Company was an esteemed dressmakers shop, patroned by many of societies finest. This coat remains in excellent condition and is a wonderful representation of the work produced and sold there. It is fitting that the donor was extraordinarily wealthy, the daughter of George Pullman of Pullman rail car fame and fortune, and was a society figure in the San Francisco area with her first husband before marrying Schermerhorn. Her wardrobe is evidence that very wealthy clients were patrons of New York makers as well as French makers.
